На лекции я имел неосторожность сказать, что интерпретация данных зависит от отношений эквивалентности, которые мы предполагаем над множеством путей, маршрутов в базе данных. Например, ответ на вопрос являются ли каталонцы испанцами зависит от нашего отношения к эквивалентности их исторических путей.
Получил в ответ личное письмо от студентки о том, что всякое сравнение каталонцев с испанцами унизительно.

First of all, I would like to congratulate you for you talk. It was really very interesting. But, if I can, I would like to tell you that the question about if we are Spaniards was a bit humiliating for us, because we are Catalan people (and only Catalan). In fact, we are going to be an independent state very soon. Althought this, you have more information that most of the people.

На стенах домов в Барселоне видел тут и там надписи "Независимость и социализм", из окон повсюду висят каталонские флаги

Рассказал о письме коллеге из Мадрида. Он мне тотчас ответил, что националисты манипулируют сознанием (безработной) молодежи, что каталонцы никуда не денутся, так как, если государство - челн ЕС разваливается, то осколки автоматически вылетают из союза, и что бы там не говорили, Каталония - Испания.
"I understand your surprise. And frankly speaking this girl happened to express something which you do not deserve. I am completely sure knowing you that you have not humiliate nobody. But this is what actually is happening in some circles there. Politicians (nationalists) are manipulating the feelings of the people and the history. Then somebody like you is invited to give a talk, you say whatever, and by whatever you say there is an emotional burst related to nationalism. This might be her opinion, but definitely this is not the general opinion showed in the last regional elections. Nationalist manipulated all the time, by lying, during the electoral campaign something that everybody knows because it belongs to the European Treaty: If any part of the member of the EU breaks the links with the original member, automatically the broken part should abandon the EU. All this is a sort of game of the nationalist politicians, though they are playing with persons, emotions and...fire.
Whatever the emotions the girl might have and have expressed, Catalonia is Spain.
